This page is a bit sporadic, I'm afraid that other projects just get in the way. Too much stuff, Too little time! Which is nice.
Aug/Sept 2009 - Made some very interesting connections during the New Designers Exhibition and have been invited to exhibit at the Cycle show at Olympia as well as being shortlisted for the 'Talent 2009' exhibition put on by the Designhuis in Eindhoven which will run during the Dutch Design Week.
More importantly though I've been working freelance for Innovate-Design in Salisbury, a talented, creative bunch who needed some manufacturing experience to complement their existing skill set. Fantastic opportunity, looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial working relationship.
As if this wasn't enough, I have also been invited to lecture students on both the BSc and BA courses at Nottingham Trent University.
July 2009 - Was featured in a four page spread in the prestigous New Design Magazine and Exhibited at the New Designers exhibition where we had loads of interest and support for the TrailCat. Invited to exhibit elsewhere, visit other universities, do MSc's at others...all good stuff. Oh, and I graduated so have officially been awarded my 1st class honours degree along with the best student and best project prizes.
This weekend (26/07/09) the TrailCat is to take part in a Lands End to John O'Groats Charity bike ride. Good Luck to Pete Lyons who is riding it and whose worthy charities will hopefully benefit from the publicity we have generated by joining forces.
June 2009 - Done it! Thesis in, Model Built, Exhibition space created. Another week finishing some odds and ends and its all over...unless of course I do the masters course or.....anyway plenty of time to think about that. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in my final year, including my fellow students, couldn't have done it without you.
2009 - Final Year. Christmas is out the way, one last push and its back out into the world...woohoo!
See 'Currently' page for my major project and current obsession. Did I mention I'm also organising the final year exhibition?
2008 - Spent the year working for Tyco in Birmingham, what a year! Project engineer for the major contracts department, who knew there were that many types of sprinkler.

Wow! What happened to that month? Went away for christmas (visit Linthwaite House if you ever want an awsome 5 Star break), went to China (see the China page), caught up with the Uni work, appeared on TV and radio (again)
All i've got to do now is get this web site up and running......
Meanwhile here is a sample of what we got up to at the 12th International Snow and ice sculpture Competition in Harbin, Peoples Republic of China

Top, Left: Our first attempt at snow sculpture. A crown with DNA bobbles and the logos for the 4 UK nations.
Top, Centre: The rules changed and our new block of snow was 4 meters high not 3!
Top. Right: We just got on with it, first task, remove 1 meter of snow from the top
Bottom, Left: Justifiably proud team poses for yet another photo
Bottom Right: Who says you can't just go to China and sculpt snow? Our international submission for 2007...roll on 2008!

This week as been great, all the 1st year and 2nd year BSc students have been working on a week long project to develop deigns for a 'tandem' for a guy with Cerebal Palsy and one of his parents. Teamwork, deadlines, research and a short presentation to Ashley and his parents, brilliant!

BBC East midlands news came and filmed us today. OK so it was one guy and what looked remarkably like my own video camera, albeit a slightly more epensive version. It went much better than the radio interview (see below) and they were much more supportive of the 'trip of a lifetime' angle to our story. Only 14 days till we go now

Today BBC Radio Nottingham have interviewed us about our forthcoming trip tothe Harbin Ice & Snow Sculpture competition in China. Elaine, Seong Neil and myself ended up making playdo sculptures of Nottingham landmarks! Most bizarre!
However the East Midlands TV news are coming to talk to us on Thursday, hopefully they will take our cultural visit slightly more seriously.
We also collected our sponsored clothing today too! Many thanks to Berghaus for their kind contribution of Boots, Fleeces, Hats, gloves and Coats. Having checked the weather today we'll need them its going to be -20 tonight.

And no ours wont be this big!
